Editor‐in‐Chief, Engineering Management Journal

On behalf of the American Society for Engineering Managers (ASEM) Board of Directors, this is a call for nominations for the position of editor‐in‐chief of the Engineering Management Journal. This position is a four‐year, non‐renewable term beginning January 1, 2018.

The Engineering Management Journal is a refereed journal that publishes original, high‐quality papers on a wide range of topics of interest to engineers and engineering managers. It publishes research manuscripts (including applied research), tutorials, opinion pieces, and book reviews that  represent  current  research, practice, and teaching involving problems of engineering management. The papers published cover a number of areas including continuous improvement, decision making & risk management, economics of engineering, engineering management  profession, innovation & new product development, knowledge management, leadership, operations management, organization & work system design, organization development &  change, organizational performance & assessment, program & project management, strategic management, supply chain management, systems engineering, and technology management.

Editor‐in‐Chief Responsibilities

The  editor‐in‐chief  is  responsible  for  the  technical  content  and  direction  of  the  Engineering Management Journal, oversight of the publication process of the journal, management of the ASEM Eschenbach best paper award, and enhancing the visibility and prestige of the Engineering Management Journal.  Responsibilities  include  overall coordination and processing  of  submissions, reviews, and final copy for the journal plus working directly with Taylor & Francis Group publisher; tracking of manuscripts from final copy to publication; coordination with the ASEM Award Committee in notifying the best paper award winner each year. The editor‐in‐chief will be assisted by associate editors and guest editors. The position is a voluntary position, and a salary is not provided.

Editor‐in‐Chief Qualifications

Qualifications for the editor‐in‐chief of the Engineering Management Journal include:

• Membership in ASEM
  
• A demonstrated interest in the broad topics covered by the aims and scope of the journal
  
• A demonstrated record of research, scholarship and application in one or more of the topical areas covered by the journal
  
• Prior editorial experience, dedication and enthusiasm for ASEM and EMJ
  
• Ability to effectively and efficiently manage the editorial process

Nomination Submission

Nominations should include a resume of individual qualifications with experience that includes engineering research and research administration. Nominees should provide the selection committee with a one‐page vision statement and contact information for three references who can speak directly to the candidate’s ability to serve as editor‐in‐chief. Self‐nominations are encouraged.

Nominations will be accepted until September 29, 2017.
